Breaking My Silence
I have been sitting in near silence for over three months, since learning that HBS was putting me on unpaid administrative leave, and banning me from campus, teaching and research. It has been shattering to watch my career being decimated and my reputation completely destroyed. It has been hard to see how this situation impacted those around me - my family, my mentors, my collaborators and my students.
The information that has been available to the public, and the analysis posted by critics, may sound compelling. But the information is incomplete and misleading. The record needs to be corrected. This website is my attempt to do so.
Let that correction begin with this simple and unambiguous statement: I absolutely did not commit academic fraud.
Website launch date: September 29, 2023
March 15, 2024 update:
Harvard shared their case. And while my lawyers have discouraged me from speaking out, I just need to say that I did not — ever — engage in academic fraud. Once I have the opportunity to prove this in the court of law, with the support of experts I was denied through Harvard’s investigation process, you'll see why their case is so weak and that these are bogus allegations. Until then, this is all I can share.
May 29, 2025 update:
From the start, I have said that I did not commit any academic misconduct and I want to reconfirm that statement. And from the very start, Harvard has blocked me from defending myself publicly. First, HBS forbade me from discussing the case while their process was underway. Later, the University forbade me from discussing the case during their process to revoke my tenure.
I am deeply sad and disappointed that the University has concluded as it has. But now that this process is over, I am free to show why its conclusion is so clearly wrong. I will continue the fight and do everything in my power to right this wrong. I will share whatever I can publicly over time. Stay tuned.
